A pilot project to improve water sanitation facilities  and to generate awareness among students on the effective use of sanitation facilities in schools of the Western Province

The pilot project which was initiated as per a concept of Member of Parliament Hon Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, to improve the water and sanitation activities of the students and raise awareness about the use of sanitation methods was successfully completed based on Kalutara districts.

WP/Matu Dikhena Kanishta Vidyalaya, WP/Ho Diwalakada Kanishta Vidyalaya and WP/Kalu Halkandawila Maha Vidyalaya have been provided with completed toilet systems for the students.

The hygiene awareness program presented in conjunction with this project was more appropriate. We are very grateful to the Tissa de Silva Foundation for providing financial support to such a social service during this period of the economic crisis in our country.

The second phase of this is proposed to be implemented covering all three districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara and it is also sponsored by the Tissada Silva Foundation.
