Institutions under the Western Province Cultural Division
(1) Western Province Aesthetic Resorts
The Western Province Aesthetic Resort was initially known as the National Drama and Arts Theatre (NADA). On December 4, 2008, the Western Province Beauty Salon was opened to the public as an institution under the Chief Minister. Since December 18, 2015, it has been made a statutory institution under the Ministry of Education, Culture and Arts, Sports and Youth Affairs of the Western Province.
(2) Western Province Horana Kalaketha
Established under the Ministry in 2003 with the objectives of cultural and artistic affairs, Horana Kalaketha is an aesthetic institution that has been started with the aim of further developing the artistic talents of children in the area.
This institution successfully implements 09 courses such as Upcountry, Lowcountry, Kathak, Children’s Folk Dance, Music, Art. Drama and Theater, Drum Playing and Hindi Language. All these courses are provided free of charge to the children, and at the end of the year, an art show titled “Shilpa Visthasa” is held to showcase their talents. At the end of the year, the children who complete the courses are evaluated and certificates are awarded. School workshops, workshops for parents and various programs are continuously implemented with the aim of developing the enjoyment of children and adults in the area.
